Had on tap at the Bend brewpub in August 2009. Pours a very dark color, near black with the finest mahogany tint to it. Minimal head. The nose is quite pungent with aromas of coffee, espresso, and rye, with the rye adding a nice spicy touch that perfectly complements the coffee--I'm surprised I haven't seen more brewers go in this direction given how well it turned out.
The taste was quite similar to the smell, with the rye coming out a bit more, which fit in quite well with the porter's dry mouthfeel. The drink overall was a little bit hot and dry to be supremely drinkable, but was quite good, and I wish I could have gotten a bottle to see how this one would smooth out with age.
