Growler from daysinthewake. Reviewed 5/30/11.
Murky, orange-amber body. Big bubbles, but not much else of a head. May have lost some carbonation.
Aromas of tangerine zest. Herbal tea notes. Woody and grassy hops. Floral tones, perhaps jasmine.
Very herbal flavors up front, like sun brewed black tea. Hint of citrus sourness. Floral tones. Orange water sweetness. Down-played hops on the finish. Very earthy. Bright in the mouth, with moderate carbonation. Slightly viscous.
I have a feeling this may have lost carbonation based on how it came out of the growler, but I still enjoyed this a lot. Loved the herbal tones. If I could have had this fresh at the brewery, this probably would have gotten an A.

On tap at Deschutes Bend pub, 6.15.11, $5 for 12 oz, poured into branded tulip.
One finger white broken head, pretty quick dissipation with average lacing. Light amber body, some visible carbonation rising from bottom of etched glass, a bit cloudy. Pretty dry nose due to yeast, fairly big hop profile, a bit floral, bready. Taste is pretty hoppy for style, complex malt profile. Mouthfeel is medium, quite dry finish, not a lot of effervescence. A nice homage to Orval, well done. Wish Deschutes would do more Belgian style beers more often.
