A blend of a bock with the hop and yeast stylings of a Belgian tripel, a Bend Brewpub exclusive. Love the Teutonic-tinged pun complexity.
This beer appears a hazy dark golden amber colour, with one thin finger of fizzy white head, which leaves a few specks of tacky lace around the glass as it wisps away. It smells of bitter grassy hops, lemon, crackery biscuit malt, and musty Belgian yeast. The taste is moderately sweet caramel malt, earthy, musty yeast, and bitter dead flowers. The carbonation is average, the body on the strong side of middleweight, with a bit of boozy airiness, but rendered quite smoothly. It finishes off-dry, the booze amping up a bit further with the sweetness.
While the exact definition of this particular endeavour by Deschutes is hard to wedge in here, there is no denying how easy this high octane Frankenstein brew is to sip away.
