12 ozpour on tap
A: Darker amber slight caramel in color. Great clarity and not much body.
S: Nice malty bready doughy grainiy smell. Slight floral and herbal hop presence
T: Nice layered malts and grain but then has a spice taste rusted grain floral zesty hoppiness
M: Medium to lighter
O: This is a horrible example of a Marzen and the chief problem with American Octoberfests they hopped it up and it ruined a great beer. Lots of zesty earthy spicethat was not needed or welcome in a marzen.

On tap at the Portland brewpub.
A: Pours a clear, amber-copper body with off-white head. I can't really comment on retention since it came in a taster size (4oz) courtesy of a server.
S: Mild aromas of toasted biscuit and grass.
T: This is where the beer shines. It finishes with an unmistakable, memorable flavor of bitter aspirin and fish. Yes, fish. I handed the sampler to alfrantzell and had him check. I compared it to salmon, while he likened it to trout. Perhaps my palate is damaged. I should be able to discern between various fish species. Either way, this didn't get finished.
O: If I can't even finish 4oz...

On tap at the Portland Brewpub. Served in a Deschutes Pint Glass.
A - Pours a dark orange with a tan head. Good retention, but no lacing left on the glass.
S - Very hoppy floral tones and some malts in the background.
T - The hops totally dominate here. Very floral, citrusy, and honeydew.
D - Good carbonation and average body.
O - Good, but the fresh hops dominate so much, I would have never guessed this as an Octoberfest.
