not quite white i expected, but a cool version of this, crisp still, as the name suggests, bright, not all that hoppy, certainly in an american fresh hop context, but the hops give a little fresh life to this beer, and i think its unique, just way more subtle than i anticipated it being, very drinkable, unforced, clean. i believe they use fresh tettnang hops for this, which is not something you really ever see, so its unique right away. seems like these noble hop varietals are never really part of the fresh hop thing, so cool effort here. the integrity of the base pils is fully in tact here, old world lager yeast, tight minerality, some light herbal spiciness from the hops, dry pils malt crackery foundation, lovely balance, and the extra hop addition does not throw that off. the hops are cool, perhaps a little more aromatic than flavorful here, but i get some neat grassy and spicy character, a light celery thing, definitely fresh, tastefully dosed, light citrus peel, verdant, light weedy character but clean the whole way, overall a tad more bitter at the end than i recall from the original too, but its been a little while for me on that one, not oily and resinous and northwestern, this is different, but its effective. the lushness is cool, the beer stays nice and light and quick, and i think its a neat way to feature an uncommon ingredient, although i also think this could certainly handle more of the fresh hops without being unbalanced. subtle overall, but a neat project, a touch less snappy than the original but the aroma and flavor is certainly elevated...
