It's dark. It's deep. It's mysterious. This imperial stout has immeasurable depth inviting you to explore and discover its rich, complex profile. The flavor of this special brew draws you in further and further with each sip. The Abyss beckons. Enjoy the journey.

Clear, dark brown pour, opaque body; thick, tan head; dense and creamy texture, sticky, fat rings of foam mark the glass. Rich aroma filled with notes of chocolate and cocoa powder; vanilla; whiskey; muted fruity esters. Phenomenal taste; deep, rich milk chocolate with shades of vanilla; muted boozy component; charred grain bitterness. Heavy body; dense and sticky; softly sludgy and velvety; gentle warmth balances the residual sugar presence.
My word! What a wonderfully aged beer. This thing must have been bottled nearly 13 years ago. It's been a while since I've had any Abyss (regardless of variant), but I do know the 2012 - 2015 or so range were always a pleasure to drink. Where Tavour got a hold of these beers, I don't know. I do know I should have ordered a few more, but c'est la vie. I also find it interesting that this beer was never added to the BA database.
ABV: 11%; pouring temperature: 53.0 °F; bottling info: Best after 08/16/14
