an impressive and complex imperial stout, strong and boozy, but also rich and concentrated and smooth, aged in bourbon barrels. the pour is inky neat black with high shine and a short but lasting mocha head, mirror gloss to it, long legs. the nose is on the edge of burnt, super dark roast here with some coffee character in there as well, and plenty of sweetness from an extended boil, i also get some light bready ale yeast, strong vanilla and honey from the whiskey, charred oak, and a mild nuttiness in the middle. intense. the flavor is excellent and it gets more dynamic as it warms, although also sweeter and more alcoholic then too. neat wrinkles here behind all the barrel character, licorice and pipe tobacco, raisin and cocoa, a hint of toasted coconut too, and a ton of specialty dark malt. i dont mind all the body, its slick feeling and seems to support the whiskey lead pretty well. stays with me awhile, and definitely accelerated my buzz. very bold and very well made, if you like them barrel forward this is your horse. awesome beers here, incredible space, really fun times!
