been dying to check this place out ever since i heard it opened, and it was great to finally be able to while i was over there, walked over with my wife through the city, its in a cool little market area, a walking street with all kinds of shops and restaurants and such, neat central location for the pub. the space has some limited outside seating out front, is quite expansive inside going back way deeper than it looks like is possible from the outside, with some seating in the front windows, a long bar down one side, and a more intimate area in the back right in front of the brew house, which is exposed there for all to see. somewhat humble and even kind of minimal next to other mikkeller spaces i have been in, more of a working class feel to the place, less done up, and it was bustling when we were in on a friday afternoon. i was impressed with the range of beers coming out of such a modest sized brewery, huge range on tap, twenty handles i think. they also had some of the sexy bottles from the baghaven location, among others. we were really impressed with a black currant and licorice gose, a nitro dry stout, and of course the bottle that we got, but everything we tastes from here with both clever and well executed. perhaps not as ambitious as some of what we have all come to expect from mikkeller, but i think this place suits its environment well in terms of what is on offer, seems to be pushing as hard as the clientele is up for right now, and honestly it was neat to see more straightforward mikkeller beers be executed this well, its easy to forget that do the basics well too. i also really liked their baltic porter. exceptional service in here, totally unpretentious, and good vibes around. the prices seemed reasonable for the quality, and they had a limited but decent looking food menu too, but we did not partake. a totally different vibe and feel than their bar across town, also cool and worth checking out, any fan of mikkeller should definitely hit both while in london. so glad i got to drink some beers here!
