Was at Sour Sunday this year and wanted a little buzz to send me packing, so I went up and ordered some NodNSmile. Happy I did.
Pours a big hearty orange and light amber color, massive hop oils keep it from having much of a head, very small and goes away. Aroma is pungent hops, seems like Citra, Simcoe, Amarillo kind of stuff going on.
Taste is very hoppy without being ridiculously bitter. Nice waves of citrus and tropical fruits. Caramel nowhere to be found thankfully, light body, light sweetness, not a dry mouth feel really on this one. Usually its either thick and caramel-y, or bone dry and barely toasted pale malts. This has the deep orange color that makes you think caramel, but its just a mild sweet malt backbone that showcases the hops very well. Very well done.
