a super simple blonde, but also not generic, these guys already seem to be developing a bit of a house yeast character, just slightly rustic, not farmy or weird, but sort of earthy and non neutral, which gives even their most basic ale here a little bit more depth than most of the simple blondes in the game, this might just be a single malt too, just very straight forward, light and drinkable but not boring, solid for what must be a first batch here at this new establishment, but not perfectly refined yet either. very light yellow from the tap, almost all the way clear, with a decent white head on it and some lace. smells very minimally hopped, wet and earthy, and like just some simple pale barley was used in the mash, minerals and water chemistry also evident, making this unique just a bit, hints of biscuit, honey, and slate. the flavor is about the same, some light hop bitterness helping to crisp up the back end, but its subtle, and this is definitely the house beer for the yellow beer drinkers, of which i know there are quite a few of in this area, makes sense to have something for them, but its also cool that it has a little breadiness to the ferment and probably pushes the envelope just a little bit for the style, just a bit more flavor, still super easy drinking, nicely carbonated (which was a theme here), and quite good for a brewery just getting its feet wet. not my favorite here, but fully serviceable. perhaps fermented just a tad warm, but i like this yeast in here anyway.
