A tad stronger than the average porter lands Waco Ale's more robust, more Baltic-like porter a little extra pep to drag us through cooler weather.
Dark brown and looking cola-like with a thin and broken froth, Dino Rocket soon greets the nose with toast, chocolate, coffee and cola with a woodsy bark-like scent. As its sweeter malts splash the early palate, bolder suggestions of caramel, toffee and chocolate round out its first impressions.
As the dark ale opens up, hints of dark fruit bring berry, plum and grape nuances that are wrapped in a coffee tone that itself pulls from the toast and chocolate. Nutty with toasted pecan and a slow development of bitterness reads even more coffee-like and with a cola spiced late palate.
Full bodied yet relaxed on the tongue, the dark ale finishes sweet and slightly tacky. lacking the strength, complexity or vinous nature of authentic Baltic porter, Waco Ale's falls somewhere between robust porter and those originally sent across the Baltic region.

Nice porter. Color is dark brown with decent tan head. Nose is slightly chocolate and slightly cola. Taste was mildly sweet., but nothing overbearing. Good beer.
