Tasted on tap at the brewery in Waco, TX.
Dark gold in color with medium haziness; a skin of foam and some lacing, but no real head. Sweet nose with a little grain and very low citrus. Flavors are a blend of toasted grain and citrus hops. Medium body, low carbonation, low to medium hops bitterness, and light alcohol presence. This is an OK NEIPA, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

As a cast of haze pulls over Waco, there's really no threat of bad weather, rather a bright and sunny reward for the tastebuds. Waco Ale Co. experiments with the hazy IPA style for a blue ribbon of a beer no matter the weather.
Pale and golden straw in color, New Waco Haze #27 carries a cloudy body and with a creamy white cap. As a bold scent of citrus, tropical fruit and botanical herb greets the nose, an initial taste of shortcake, honeysuckle and cereal start to come to mind.
But with the hops unfolding on the middle palate, anything malty sits back in a supporting role. Pineapple, passionfruit and hints of mango precede a more citrusy taste of orange, nectarine and white grapefruit for a nearly tangy hop display. As the session tightens into a moderately bitter late taste, the more herbal flavors rise with suggestions of green tea, fresh pine and hemp.
Medium bodied, creamy and finishing malty-dry, the session extends into a medium length afterglow of citrus oil, spruce and botanical herb in a nearly pin-point balance to close.

Color was amber, not really hazy at all. Tight little white head no lacing. Nose was piney and slightly dank. Taste was piney with decent amount of piney bitterness. Decent beer, but not their best.
