Tasted on tap at the brewery in Waco, TX.
Supremely dark with a thick ring of tan foam that leaves sheets of lacing. Sweet malt aroma with cherry liquor notes; no roasted grain evident. Flavors are similar, with sweet maltiness and a fruity, cherry note without the roasty backbone I'd expect. Thick body; low carbonation; medium to high hops bitterness. Some alcohol heat, but it seems low for the ABV. This is a pretty good beer, but not a great example of Imperial Stout because the malt sweetness has no counterpoint. It comes across more like a Belgian Dark Strong Ale. If they used a more interesting (Belgian) yeast, they could embrace that style.
