16-ounce can purchased with lunch at John's Marketplace in Beaverton, OR. Enjoyed in one of their bulbous branded pint glasses. Date stamp reads "DEVIN IS OUR HOMEBOY! 05/30/23 BATCH #132"
This beer is a collaboration with Ruse Brewing of Portland, OR.
Look:
The body is bright gold and crystal clear. The head is snowy white and sturdy. It lingers for a few minutes before collapsing to an enduring collar that leaves impressive lacing.
Smell:
Citrus and strawberries. The citrus layer includes lemon zest, grapefruit peel, and a splash of tangerine juice. Zesty! Underneath are notes of pine and mango.
Taste:
Citrus and sweet mango lead the way, supported by a base of clean, slightly grainy malt. There's a tasty floral/peppery note in the middle and a kiss of mint. The floral character leads to a moderately bitter finish with pine and strawberries harmonizing in the aftertaste. As the beer warms, an interesting herbal note (tarragon? celery seed?) makes a brief appearance on the breath at the very end.
Feel:
Light-medium body with lively carbonation. Each sip starts crisp and each swallow ends drying and moreish. Mild alcohol warmth.
Overall:
Like their recent collab with North Park Beer Co. of San Diego, CA, this is another top-notch Living Häus IPA collab which amply displays the skills of both breweries. I think a bit more bitterness would really push this to the next level, but I'm kinda old-school that way. Highly recommended.
