Last fresh hop season we teamed up with our pals @humblesea to create a Centennial hop forward IPA loosely based on their flagship Socks and Sandals beer. Now we're taking a shot at a non fresh hop version that leans on Centennial, Citra, and Simcoe hops. Classic West Coast IPA notes of grapefruit, lemon peel, and pine are all here along with a touch of red berry in the finish. It's pretty tubular.

Thanks, Chris.

A clear light orange with a dense off-white head with good retention and lacing. The nose is fabulous fresh hop character, bright, clean Centennial, citrusy, mildly rind , lovely zest and perfume. Minimal malt. The palate opens with a rich fresh hop resin character, softly oily and richly perfumed. Citrus, bright, clean, redolent. Drying, mildly bitter, lingering fresh hop bitterness on the finish. Fantastic.

Look: Clear yellow on the pour with a nice-looking white head that swells and slowly settles to a pillow, leaving great lacing behind

Aroma: I could smell it on the pour. Lemons, limes, freshly cut grass, skunky Cannabis, sweet rose, and some conifer notes too – this smells awesome and I’m getting deeper and different aromas than I typically do with fresh Centennials, which this uses

Taste: Oh yeah, that trend continues. Tons of wet hop goodness blasts the palate on first sip and quickly develops depth. Lemon-lime, grass, conifer resin, and Cannabis all in play. Resinous notes almost overtake the subtly lychee/sweet rose but it’s still there and closes with a big-time bite and nice hop burps

Mouthfeel: Full, slick, clean, medium-high carbonation, and dry on the finish

Overall: This is some tasty stuff. Living Haus is a newer brewery for me but I’ve liked what I’ve tried and wanted to see how they handle fresh hops and the answer to that is very well. A delicious blend of flavors/aromas and the typical raw hop/vegetal/grassy/slick notes and feel that I like and expect in a fresh hop beer. Highly recommended
