We’d hit a few places in and out of Atlanta proper while down for a materials handling show these last few days, and then headed up north some and then some more. Nick’s folks have a place up here in the woods, you see, so we’re taking an extra day for a well-deserved little breather before heading back to the work grind unkind. We had a plan to get out and about, but didn’t get too far. Didn’t need to…
Located directly across the street from the Blue Ridge Adventure Dog Sip & Play (Dog Park + drinks, you say. I kind of want to know what goes on there). Anyway, back across the street, it’s a green painted quadrupel wide garage looking unit with large ‘Angry Hop Brewing’ lettering across the top side, and an angry hop logo between the doors.
‘L’ shaped glossy wood topped split tree with a logo, and vertical wood plank below a horizontal phat beam base. Seating for 6 on black leather wood hightop chairs, split 3 & 3. Barback wall is done wood slat shingles over horizontal plank with coasters in rows and rows on the lower around a center 16 non-descript handled tap tower on a stainless panel. Taps listed on slats (beer, style, ABV) on a pallet board to the right (yes, an actual pallet). Single flat above showing Fail Army (that’s some funny shit), and a ‘From the Ashes’ poster aside (respect). Glassware shelved below, and a crowl crimper & a quiet handpump along the barback there.
Concrete floors, cinder block walls, and black wood rafter ceilings. Silver plastic hop lamps tracing the bar with color changing bulbage that’s kind of freaking me out. A pair of shared long tables stooled forward the bar along the 2 roll up doors and 4 barrel butt tables on the end, fronting a corner can cooler, displayed merch, a snack rack, and growlers shelved. Blue Ridge hiking map on the far wall over a bar counter ledge.
And through to the side room. A pair of shared tables, 4 short rounds on corner benchings, and some forward window ledge seating. Flats in the corners, spinnys, pan filament bulb lamps, & an ornate lamp. And on walkabout, I spy a dozen and a half mix & match tables out front and around the sides. And a 3bbl system in the bay on the far end of the building (had to be around here some place).
16 beers up, a pretty good spread in styles (100% Natural Blonde, Blonde Ale, 5.2%; Rhapsody, Bohemian Pilsner, 5%; From the Ashes, West Coast Pilsner, 5.8%; 1887, Vienna Lager, 5.3%; Big Fellas, Helles Lager, 5.3%; Blue Ridge Brown, English Brown Ale, 5.7%; Wee Angry, Wee Heavy/Scotch Ale, 8%; Chug-A-Lug, Brown Porter, 5.5%; Why so Salty?, Salted Caramel Porter, 6%; Blood Mountain, Hoppy Red Ale, 4.6%; Hoppy Wrath, American IPA, 6.5%; Hop Nightmare, American IPA, 8%; Ninkasi’s Revenge, Pink Boots Society IPA, 6.2%; Belligerent, DIPA, 8.3%; Triple Blaze, TIPA with Sabro, 10%; Bugg Juice, Sour with Passionfruit & Papaya, 5.5%).
Got into a few as I do (Hoppy Wrath, West Coast IPA, nailed it, dank, well done; From the Ashes, West Coast Pilsner, snappy, nice hop face, me likey; Rhapsody, Bohemian Pilsner, on the side pour, light hoppiness, biscuity, yes, please; 1887, Vienna Lager, toasty, sweet, crisp, solid; Big Fellas, Helles Lager, an easy drinking little sweety, it’s the goods). I’m saying Hoppy Wrath West Coast IPA & From the Ashes West Coast Pilsner for the wins.
Caroline tending today, polite and cordial. Chill house, just talking with the locals (Brewery Joe lingering). Tunes, yeah. Bluegrass, and lots of it. Some good beers here. This was supposed to be just a drop in; we spent like 5 hours here.

New place that we found on a visit to the area. Rustic look but it works. Not fancy and that works as well. An old two door garage converted into a brewery it looks like. Excellent beer selection, although as you might expect, not a lot of choices and that is to be expected. When we were ther there was a blackboard list with, if memory serves me, about 12 selections. They do flights which is a great way to try beers. I wish I had written down what I ordered as all four were excellent. If I lived in the area this would be a great stop for a beer or two after work with friends.
