This beer poured a clear orange body with a small white head.
Nose is pretty non descript. Some malt and grain and caramel. Very mild.
Taste is light to medium bodied with a nice chewy malt. There's a pretty nice hop bitterness that gives some balance and bite. No strong hop flavors, just an good earthy balance. Malt is simple and fresh with a solid grain and caramel backbone. Ends with a clean taste.
As a Marlborough resident I totally love the idea of a beer to celebrate the towns 350th aniversay, however Rapscallion is far from the good ol' days of Creation and Premier. This is a nice easy drinking Middle of the road lager. Nothing amazing, but not bad. Just a nice MOR slighty hoppy lager.

This beer was created specifically for the 350 anniversary of the town of Marlborough, MA (now a city). It was a remake of the Concord Brewing's Harvard Lager and released at Allora's Restaurant in Marlborough and is only available there for now, but will be making to a few other restaurants in the city soon. Unveiled on Jan 1, 2010.

And now for the review.
A: Creamy 1 finger head over a clear golden brown color.
N: Nose has hints of crisp lager goodness, very light Euro like sweet malts, and a nice dousing of mild pale grassy hops.
T: It's slightly sweet with toasty malts, more pale bitter hops with some grassy flavors and hints of lemongrass, a little bright fruity flavors, a little creamy, and very clean and crisp. A nice hoppy flavor and bitterness but remains light and refreshing.
M: Pretty light with decent carbonation.
F: Slightly bitter finish with lingering grassy pale hop flavors, and the bitterness slowly rises a bit before hitting a quick peak and then fading just as fast. There's still a slight malty sweetness on the finish as well. Some nice crisp lager flavors as well.
Overall a really nice lager. Crisp, light, refreshing, and a nice pale hop character. Better for spring than winter, but still a nice one to have. Worth a try if you are in the area.
