Taster at brewery. Cloudy golden pour, bubbly head. Light yeasty notes in the aroma and taste, grassy, mild savory notes. Overall, just below average.

i feel like this is a little trickier style to get right for a new brewery, and i am always skeptical of no name american breweries tackling belgian styles, i always fear generic yeast, overly estery profiles, phenolic beers, poor carbonation, all the usual pitfalls, but these guys manage do avoid most of them in a pretty good wit here, bright orange citrus to it, clean through the whole drink, and nice and lively on the texture, pretty well constructed. only lightly cloudy on the pour, not as uniformly frosted wheaty looking, decent white head, a shade darker than some. it smells and tastes like well controlled yeast, hints of sweet valencia orange and lemongrass, a white pepper and clove note to the yeast, very subtle on the coriander, but its there, and the grain can be tastes from start to finish too. there are no bubblegum or pineapple or white wine high tones to this, no tang either, which sometimes these yeasts produce when run too hot, so this seems pretty refined as they go. good carbonation is key to its lightness, and it finishes dry too, so it works well in hot weather. i was pretty impressed with the beers here, and i was glad to see them tackle a no frills belgian style like this and do so well with it!

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
