16oz can from ABV Public House. Clear golden pour, frothy white head. Dry, grainy aroma, faint lemony notes. Taste opens with a crisp bite, mildly sweet malts underneath, sharp. More bitter than the norm.

Clear golden brew with plenty of foam in the Ommegang chalice. Nicely aromatic with bread and cooked cereal. Light bodied and spritzy. Flavor starts with just a kiss of lemon, but it darkens quickly with a buckwheat sort of bitterish graininess.

I don't know exactly what distinguishes one of these Pilsners from another. It seems like they aren't typically as bitter as Americans were making them for a few years. While this one is perfectly drinkable with that touch of hops, it seems more grainy and less smooth than you might like. But it's worth a try. From the 16 oz can dated 12/17/23.

Cereal grainy and brown bready malty, noble hoppy, and a lemon zesty citrus nose on this one! Taste follows with a biscuity malty, lemon citrus, and an aggressive noble hoppy bitter finish. A little more hoppiness than I like on the backend, but this being a German Pils, that is true to style! Crisp and clean...good!

At $7 for a single can, I’m not sure if this one “feels like home.” But then again, I didn’t grow up in Palas Verdes. But back to the damn thing…

It’s solid. Rock solid. I’m talking about the stuff Cool Hand Luke had to break while he had “A failure to communicate.” Would I risk it all and run from Strother Martin to get one of these? I don’t think so. But for a second, I’d give it some thought.
