Dark, ruddy brown with a soupy khaki-colored head with shockingly good retention. Big blast of chocolate, raisin, caramel and especially strong sherry in the nose. More of that fruity, caramel, sherry concoction up front in the taste. Light earthy bitterness and some lingering rye-like pepper spice in the finish. Thinner body than the aroma suggests. Otherwise fairly syrupy with some light carbonation cutting through. A very tasty beverage.

Toffee and brown sugar malty, dates and raisins, and a balanced bourbon barrel nose on this one! The aromatics are good, just not poppin' like I was expecting. Taste follows with a raisin-dark fruity forward, molasses, and an oak and bourbon barrel finish. This is well done and good! It just a little undercarbed and I was expecting a touch more nuance on the palate.
