Poured from 330mL bottle into a tall kitchen glass. Best by 1/9/23.
Appearance: rich orange hue with a moderate haze and a thick finger of frothy ivory foam. Head doesn't stick around super long, but the color is really nice.
Smell: a bit yeasty, but the main element here is kind of a sourness that I don't really love. There's some malty sweetness under there, but mostly, it's not wonderful.
Taste: there's some fruitiness to this beer, but not any kind of classic lager flavor elements. That sourness from the aroma comes in to the flavor as well -- and to be clear, this isn't a fruited beer or anything, just a simple lager. These feel like off-flavors to me.
Mouthfeel: medium-light body but with a decent carbonation and reasonable creaminess.
Overall: this cannot be the beer they set out to make. It's just not anything like what you would expect a "U.S. Lager" to be -- it's sour in not-a-good-way, and even beyond that, nothing to write home about.
