Draft at CopenRoss. Light amber pour, ring of fine head. Malty aroma, light toffee. Taste is malty but a bit bland. Light sweetness. Underwhelming. At best.

hope i have the right beer, had it from a crowler just marked esb, but this has to be it. my first from these guys and its quite impressive, a fresh old worldy malty esb that hits exactly right, just enough hops, english ale yeast, nutty and autumnal, basically plays in the same seasonal space as marzen for me, and it looks like one in the glass, clear and rusty orange, maybe a little deeper than that, with a short but lasting white head and nice shine to it. the aroma is grain driven, a warm kilned type malt to it makes it almost cozy for being as light as it is, a little honey note, graham cracker, fresh baked bread, and the english yeast doing its thing, faintly herbal hop presence, nice balance and refinement is immediately evident. its tight and clean to drink, lightly caramelized with deep earthiness and some copper character without being metallic, minerality instead. this is drier throughout than a lot of its peers, has notes of amaretto and manuka honey, and finishes with a nice grassy slightly bitter hop thing that gets more expressive as it warms. light in body but full in flavor, well carbonated, love the ferment, old world yeast and new school tidiness, almost vienna lager aspects to this, and overall it is real solid. a style a lot of american breweries ignore, great execution here, a lovely beer for the fall time. eager to try more from these guys...
