Pint pour on draught at the brewery. It pours a hazy, dark tangerine color with a half finger of creamy, eggshell-colored head and thick, long-lasting lacing. The smell is fragrant with lemon, grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, white wine, and floral hops. You can really taste the Nelson hops. It opens with dry white wine grape and tart citrus. As it warms in the glass there is increasing notes of pineapple from the BRU-1 hops and dry herbs from the Idaho 7. There is also a solid malt base. This ale has a good, thick, creamy mouth feel with pleasant carbonation and the 8.1% ABV gives it good substance. Overall, Monotone Pilot is a good recipe, well-executed. What a great first impression of a newly-opened brewery!
