On draught at the brewery. Served in a tulip glass. It pours a very dark walnut - almost black - with a thick, ecru-colored had and rings of lacing inside the glass. The smell is roasty with freshly-brewed coffee, dark chocolate, and burnt nuts. The best description of the taste is Jersey diner coffee grounds - bitter and acidic - with burnt nuts and earth char. As it warms a bit there are notes of bakers chocolate and the smallest hint of caramel. It's all classic Porter. On nitro it's super creamy and the 5/3% ABV allows for a second pour without difficulty. Overall, this is a fine English Porter. Next time I'll try the CO2 version. IMO the only thing keeping it from being outstanding would be a little more sweetness in the chocolate.
