This West Coast IPA is a classic. Lightly malty and full of piney, earthy, and citrus flavored hops. Bracing bitterness and a clean, dry finish.

16 oz. pour on draught at the brewery. Served in a pint glass. It pours an attractive, clear golden-honey color with a very small eggshell head and minimal lacing. I suspect there would be a much bigger head if poured from a can. The smell is lemon-forward with notes of grapefruit, red berry, pine needles, and floral hops. Its taste opens with a strong dose of resinous pine sap. There is nice, bitter citrus in the background but minimal malt presence. The IBU isn't listed but there is a strong, clean, bitter hop bite throughout. Based on the information at the brewery this ale is hopped only with Citra but there is little tropical or berry sweetness. This pine is the star. It has a super lite, crisp, clean mouth feel with pleasant carbonation, and the 7.4% ABV gives it good substance without seeming heavy or boozy. Overall, Camper Van is an old school WCIPA and a good one. I'd like to taste a bit more of the citrus but Double Tap has a good recipe on which to improve. This is a fun beer to drink.
