On draught at the brewery. Served in a snulip glass. It pours a very dark cola - almost mahogany - with a small, ecru-colored cap and modest lacing. Its aromatic nose offers roasted malt, dark chocolate, burnt coffee, tobacco, and subdued but distinct notes of nutmeg, cinnamon, and allspice. The pumpkin pie spices are subtle and add a nice touch to the bakers chocolate, strong acidic coffee, and earthy, nutty char of the base Pessimist. It finishes with considerable hoppy bitterness. This is an English-style Porter so its fairly lite in body and quite drinkable at 5.3% ABV. Overall, I expected much stronger pumpkin spice but Double Tap did a nice job in providing just a tease.
