On draught at the brewery. It pours a pretty mahogany color with cola hues and sports a creamy, light mocha head and sheen of lacing. The nose is fragrant with roasted malt, brown bread, chocolate nibs, and burnt nuts. For the style it has very good depth of flavor: toasted brown bread, acidic coffee, bakers chocolate, burnt nuts, and a hint of char. It is well-bodied and appropriately carbonated. This batch has a 5.9% ABV that gives it good substance. Overall, Tightrope is a very good local Schwarzbier. It could stand up to a hearty meal but is fine for casual drinking.
