Luscious complex malt flavors of toffee, caramel, and hazelnut, accented by notes of figs and plum. Medium-dry finish.

10 oz. pour on draught at the brewery. Served in a snulip glass. It pours a hazy, dark iced tea color with a modest ecru-colored cap and lite lacing. Due to the serving temperature the nose was subdued; mostly roasted malt, caramel, raisin, and some earthy peat in the background. The taste exceeded my expectations. It opens with a firm malty base of caramel and toffee with strong notes of chocolate, raisin, plum, and dry, bitter char. The balance of sweet and bitter is excellent. As it warms I really notice the depth of flavor. This ale is nicely creamy with moderate carbonation, and the 9.1% ABV gives it real substance. Overall, I am impressed. Double Tap has shown a deft touch and brewed a well-balanced and flavorful Wee Heavy.
