On draught at the brewery. Its appearance is similar to Tightrope: a pretty mahogany color with cola hues and a creamy, light mocha head and sheen of lacing. Its smell includes roasted malt, brown bread, chocolate nibs, burnt nuts, and a whiff of oak. Like Tightrope it has very good depth of flavor: toasted brown bread, acidic coffee, bakers chocolate, burnt nuts, and a hint of char. But the oak aging adds a a distinct and pleasant dryness. It is well-bodied and appropriately carbonated. The ABV is slightly lower at 5.8%. Overall, Double Tap has started with a very good local Schwarzbier but managed to improve the flavor. This variant is seriously good and accordingly I've rated it higher than Tightrope.
