On draught at the brewery. It pours nearly black with dark cola hues at the bottom of the glass and a half finger cap of light-khaki foam and rings of lacing. A most attractive pour. The smell is roasted malt with notes of tobacco smoke and anise. Its taste lead with sweet chocolate but quickly segues to hoppy bitterness and pine sap. There is very good depth of flavor. The feel is well-bodied and it is very drinkable at 6.6% ABV. Overall, Black Swan is a very good, local, Black IPA. It is a very good candidate for canning.
