Pours a darkest brown with a fluffy tan head that slowly settles to a thin cap with some lacing. Aroma of coffee and chocolate. Slightly briny taste with a creamy feel and smooth finish.

Reviewed less than a week after canning. I also had a pour on draught at the brewery and I'll coordinate notes from both tastings. Can pour into shaker glass. It pours a dark mahogany with some cola hues at the bottom of the glass, and sports almost a finger cap of fluffy, medium-khaki foam and modest film of lacing. The smell includes chocolate, fresh coffee, tobacco smoke, charred nuts, and just a whiff of brine. The draught pour featured more sweet chocolate up front. From the can it is more baker's chocolate and burnt, acidic coffee. You can taste the brine and oyster but they are subtle. There is more char and cigar ash in the can pour than on draught. For the style, the mouth feel is luxuriously creamy and plush with low carbonation. And at 7% ABV another pour is not an issue. Overall, an Oyster Stout is always a late winter treat and Double Tap has done a very nice job with Shuck and Awe. And kudos to DT for canning it.
