West Coast DIPA brewed in collaboration with our good friends Brian Beagle and Pat Mcllhenny of Alpine Beer Co. Loaded with Simcoe cryo, Enigma, Loral and Centennial hops this new school meets old school DIPA is one of our favorites we’ve brewed.

Happy to see a clear golden amber brew for a change! Plenty of foam in the tulip glass. Carbonation seems a little under the weather, and it's a thickish mouthfeel. Aroma is faintly of lemon peel and green pepper. Why is this so peppery? It's quite a persistent sensation as the bitterness comes on.

I'd have to call the flavor grassy, but with a bunch of random tastes, including alfalfa, lime peel, and green onions. The hoppy blend does not come together, in my opinion. Mineral aftertaste with the endless pepper, which doesn't taste like alcohol. From the 16 oz can sold in four-packs at Barons Market. Date on the bottom is 10/11/19.

Misc.: Beer release day

Snuck over to Pariah for the release of this beer as it was a collab between Brian Mitchell of Pariah, Pat Mcllhenny of Alpine and to some degree Brian Beagle of San Diego Beer Talk Radio. Had heard the podcast where they were talking about it and the hops - Simcoe cryo, Enigma, Loral and Centennial - were an interesting mix to me. Online description called it a, “West Coast Double IPA brewed in collaboration with our good friends Brian Beagle and Pat Mcllhenny of Alpine Beer Co. Loaded with Simcoe cryo, Enigma, Loral and Centennial hops this new school meets old school DIPA is one of our favorite we’ve brewed.”

Poured a pale-to-gold clear color with 2-to-3 fingers of off-white frothy head. Excellent foamy lacing. Excellent retention. (Sight - 4.25)

Smelled pepper, lime, lemon zest, grass, floral and citrus. (Smell - 3.50)

Taste was better than the nose. Got pepper, Simcoe, dry Centennial, bitter pine, earthy grass, herbal, lemon zest and floral. (Taste - 3.75)

Medium body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Bitter piney finish. (Feel - 4.00)

Just a straight up West Coast IPA. I’d like to revisit this in a couple of weeks to see if my initial review might change. (Overall - 3.75)
