This beer was designed to straight up be tasty as, well...you know. The initial angle was to talk about nostalgia and how that has an opportunity to provide comfort even when the world begins to make no sense. I suppose the really important thing to say here is no matter what comes of this madness we are thankful to still be able to enjoy a delicious IPA. We hope you enjoy this one as much as we do. Pariah brewing a proper West Coast IPA? Yep, you caught us.

Hops: Mosaic, Simcoe, Amarillo, Citra
Malts: Pale

Surprisingly cloudy for a claimed West Coast style IPA. Quite sturdy body with pleasant carbonation. Modest aroma of orange with a bubblegum nose. I don't often get the onion taste from hops but it's quite distinct here. There is a lot of tangerine and orange peel. Quite a murky bitter aftertaste, though.

Very fruity but quite acidic. Flavors are quite interesting but drinkability is marred by that gunky, bitter ending. From the 16 oz can dated 9/22/20 on the bottom.

Glass: North Park 16.5-oz. Munique glass
Price: $3.99

Misc.: Canned on June 26, 2020

Spent way too much at Windmill Farms and then at North Park Beer Company, but happy with my selections. I’m a big fan of Pariah beer (even the ones that are practically rated perfect on Beer Advocate - wink, wink). Back of the can for this one read, “This beer was designed to straight up be tasty as, well...you know. Yep, you caught us.” Hops mentioned were Mosaic, Simcoe, Amarillo and Citra. Side note. I noticed this right when I saw the hop combo. It’s the same as Aurora Hoppyalis (same ABV, too), which Pariah’s head brewer Brian once said he was so jealous that they came out with that one (because it’s so good). We both remarked that it was the best regularly produced beer in San Diego. This was probably two years ago, maybe 1 ½. Hoping it is nearly as good.

Poured a light amber clear color with two fingers of frothy off-white head. Could see lots of bubbles coming up from the bottom and along the sides of the glass at pretty fast speeds. Excellent spiderweb lacing. Very good retention. (Sight - 4.25)

Smelled more Simcoe and Amarillo than anything else, followed by Mosaic and Citra. Also bitter pine, onion, garlic, tangerine, berry, floral, grapefruit rind and earthy malt. A tad better from the can. (Smell - 3.75)

Tasted a little better than the nose. In order got Simcoe, black pepper, garlic, onion chips, pine, Amarillo, tangerine, berry, grapefruit rind, mixed berry and earthy malt. (Taste - 4.00)

Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long finish. (Feel - 4.25)

This was outstanding overall. I’ll have again for sure. (Overall - 4.00)

Can dated 6/26/20 into pint glass. Pours a slightly hazy, deep gold color with a brief off-white head. Initial impression is judiciously-applied citrus (grapefruit, predominantly), mango, orange, and caramel. Very well-balanced. Mouthfeel is just slightly above medium. Finish is clean and refreshing, with a very slight residual bitterness.
They said they wanted to build a "proper" West Coast IPA. I think they did it quite well.
