To say this has been one for the books would be putting it lightly. This beer features a very exciting combination of Riwaka, Strata and a touch of Simcoe for good measure. We get layered notes of passion fruit, grapefruit, tropical fruit with dank undertones and one of our most saturated flavor profiles to date. We greatly look forward to starting anew in 2021 and hope you will enjoy this beer as the ball drops as much as we will.

Glass: Melvin 14-oz. Spiegelau IPA glass
Price: $4.99
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.

Consumed: Dec. 31, 2020
Misc.: No canned on date
Grabbed this and 10 other singles when I planned to go to Windmill Farms for two other 6-packs (I still got those). I’m a big fan of Pariah beer (even the ones that are practically rated perfect on Beer Advocate - wink, wink). Back of the can read “To say this has been one for the books would be putting it lightly. This beer features a very exciting combination of Riwaka, Strata and a touch of Simcoe for good measure. Poured medium golden hazy color with three fingers of rocky white head. Plenty of bubble streams coming up along the sides of the glass. Perfect spiderweb foamy lacing. World-class retention. (Sight - 4.75)
Had to dig a little bit for the smell. After a little bit of grapefruit, passion fruit, papaya, mango, pine and dank resin. For hops, Strata stood out, followed by Simcoe and slight Riwaka (after looking up hop profile). Much better and more flavorful out of the can with the added notes of some early malt. (Smell - 3.75)
Tasted better than the nose. Just a nice balanced flavor. Still new to Riwaka but the flavor I’m getting isn’t Strata or Simcoe, so I think that’s leading the way. Would vaguely describe it as some kind of combination of peach and orange with a distinguishing flavor. Also got grapefruit rind, tropical pulp, Strata, spicy Simcoe, black pepper, dank pine, papaya, passion fruit and mango. (Taste - 4.00)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Lively carbonation. Long, citrusy finish. Really good mouthfeel. (Feel - 4.50)
Tough to judge this one after having North Park’s 2020 Is Over (DIPA), but this was outstanding overall. Really grew on me as it went down. (Overall - 4.00)
