Les Bons Voeux means best wishes, which is what Brasserie Dupont sends with this very special saison ale brewed for the holidays. Redolently aromatic, rich and velvety.
Rich gold color, fragrant (lemony with hints of pepper, banana and clove), as all the beers of Dupont are with a full, deep malt richness that lingers on your tongue for what seems the whole holiday season. Considered by some the finest offering from this unparalleled Brewery. “The best Belgian beer, if ever there could be such an award...a sumptuous, seductive 9.5% beer. Because of it’s intensity, I would recommend the novice graduate to this beer. However, if a saison that is starting to lean towards being a triple appeals to you, and if its in season, don’t hesitate.”

Copenhagen 25/8 2017. 75 cl bottle from Den Belgiske Ølbutik, Jyllingevej, Vanløse. A bottle for old friends of the brewery.
Pours hazy golden yellow with quite big bubbly head. Settles as thin layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is sour and fruity. Unripe gooseberries, citrus with some tart acidity.
Light carbonation and slightly thick palate.
Flavor is medium sweet with an almost sugary quality. Followed by quite strong, tart sourness. Aftertaste is sour with light sweet notes.
Nice quite sour brew.

This one pours a nice burnt yellow/orange color, with a fluffy head, and lots of lacing.
There’s caramelized banana, fresh cut grass, orange peel, grapefruit pith, and wheat on the nose.
This is feels essentially like a slightly burlier version of regular Saison Dupon, with a touch more sweetness, almost like candied or caramelized banana. There’s a snappy dryness still, clove and floral, with a very light malty breadiness.
This is medium bodied, crisp, clean, and not all that boozy, despite the strength.
I can’t believe I haven’t tried this one yet, it’s a nice little (big) beer.

Cloudy amber, huge white head, EXCELLENT retention, big ol' globs of lace
Lemon rind, old leather, white pepper, clove, green banana, apricot, green papaya aromas
Lemon, papaya, pepper, clove, green banana, sweet malt, earthy, marmalade, herbal flavor
Medium bodied, clean, high carbonation, goes down easier than any other beer of it's strength
While this could be a beer for any season, I really like that it's only released for the holidays. Makes it more special

Bottle poured into a tulip at Dubliners Pub in Toulouse, France. 2025 version.
Dense, but disappearing foam.
Nose is pleasantly funky, with fruits and yeast riding high.
Taste is slightly tart up front, the funk following, some spice, yeast, molasses, and a short sweet finish.
Mouth is lean, medium leaning high carbonation.
Overall, what a pleasure to get this so fresh. Excellent brew!

Poured into a 12oz pilsner glass. Beer has a nice 1/2" head that dissipates quickly, pours into a murky orange color, and there are some small artifacts in the glassful, probably brewers yeast. Scent is mild funk, yeast, grass, and hops, but overall pleasant. Taste has more malt in it than expected, but also yeast, more grass, but not so much funk. Mouthful is very evenly balanced, and finishes slightly dry with little aftertaste. Beer is very easy to drink for 9.5%, that's for sure.

Pours a nice amber with a small white head white head. Smells of yeast, apple and raspberry. I expected a brighter, slightly sour taste. However, the flavor brought some banana with darker flavors and spice. Really well balanced, and unexpected. A really enjoyable and drinkable beer.

A sweet, spicy ale with a predominantly dark character. Molasses, cooked brown sugar, light fruity ester flavours and sweet malt. Big, rocky head. Rich and filling.

Clear, golden color. Medium-sized, white head. Pleasant, floral aroma wit notes of fruits and Belgian yeasts. Sweet start gradually changes toward moderate, herbal bitterness

On tap in a Dupont tulip at Hopleaf.
A: Lightly hazy gold body under a lovely three-finger cap of dense white head. Strong retention and voluminous lacing. Lovely.
S: Bold and rich, with sweet honey malt underneath redolent citrus and spice. Just beautiful.
T: Bubblegum and orange peel up front, with honey and toasted bread close behind. Floral undertones add complexity towards the dry, peppery finish. Mild ethanol. Excellent.
F: Light and lively. Relatively creamy for the style. Enjoyable.
O: Tremendous example of the style. Deserving of its spot on the Beers of Fame list.
Cheers!

Poured from a bottle into a tulip glass
Appearance – The beer pours a hazed golden orange color with a massive head of white foam. The head persists seemingly forever, very slowly fading and leaving tons of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is big of a yeasty smell with a strong showing of apple cider vinegar and big aromas of spice. The spice is a mix of clove, nutmeg, and coriander with a bit of lemongrass and white pepper. Along with these smells comes a nice hit of funk and hay, as well as notes of a light bubblegum sweetness mixed with notes of apricot and peach candy.
Taste – The taste begins with a nice crisp and clean bready and lightly doughy malt flavor paired with a good showing of the funk and the spice that was in the nose. The spice is heavy of a coriander and clove, but there is a bit of white and black pepper as well as some of the lemongrass that was in the nose. At the same time there is a touch of bubblegum and banana sweetness, along with a hint of peach and apricot. Th peach and apricot do get a bit stronger, all while the bubblegum and banana sweetness fade, leading to a drying out of the taste overall. At the same time more funk, a bit of herb, and some light grass and hay develop, leaving one with a nice crisp and rather clean taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is light and crisp for a beer of 9.5 %, with a carbonation level that is very effervescent. Quite perfectly matched to the beer. Very well done.
Overall – A very nice and flavorful brew that is dangerously easy to drink at 9.5 % abv. In my opinion, a very well done and big Saison.

This beer has multiple and complicated layers of taste. There is a pepper and clove, sweetness, a pleasant alcohol flavor, and a mysterious barnyard funk. The bubbles are tiny and drinking it feels like drinking champagne. Overall I would call this beer World Class.
