Looks like your typical Irish dry stout. The smell is straight up like coconut oil with just a hint of chocolate. The taste hits you with immediate coconut flavor which then goes into a slight chocolate undertone. I wouldn't call this double chocolate by any means, but that may just be a description of the amount of chocolate required to make that flavor come out amongst the coconut. Typical nitro feel. Really love the amount of surprise and joy I had when first tasting this beer. Was a treat to have.

Looks aqueous and smells of a coconut air freshener. Tastes of raw coconut and chocolate. So odd, so wonderful.

nice to see these guys not giving up the innovation like it seems a few of the other big players up there have done or are on their way to doing. this is their base double chocolate stout, which i think is a great beer to begin with, with coconut added. its a nice addition too, tempers the sweetness of the chocolate some, and adds quite a lot of flavor. it looks a little lighter and browner than i remember the base beer being, but its been a little while for me with that one. the head is nice from the nitro tap! it smells great, tropical paradise in the glass, with the coconut real forward, way out in front of the chocolate flavor and the notes of coffee and char from the malt. its not fake though, not suntan lotiony like some can be, but its not shy either. the flavor is just like the nose here, all coconut, even at the expense of the chocolate this beer is known for. if the intent here was to accent the original with coconut, they have way overshot the mark, but if it was to reinvent the thing with coconut, its spot on. about as much of that flavor as one could reasonably tolerate in a glass of beer i have to imagine. a little thinner than i remember, which exposes some of the residual sugar, but overall i like this one a whole lot. cool to see them putting some twists on the classics. hopefully this one makes it to the bottle!
