Intricate flavors of peach, apricot, ginger, black pepper and sweet orange peel; with a phenolic character from Belgian Saison yeast. Mild hop profile rounds out a relatively dry finish. Cheers to the perfect duo of new tricks and old.

I'm back, still attacking the Bottle Backlog here at Chez Woody! I am of a dichotomous mind re. Christmas this year as Santa Claus, NOT CANta Claus, dang it!, has left all sorts of goodies for me to drink and review that day. I am making a pot roast in my Crock Pot with some beer as liquid and Th' Stillers play that evening. Plus it is on a Sunday this year and all of these beers will be new to me. Hmm. Until then ...
From the bottle: "Intricate flavors of peach, apricot, ginger, black pepper and sweet orange peel; with a phenolic character from Belgian Saison yeast. I Pop!ped the cap and gave it a decently heavy pour. This resulted in just over a finger of soapy, rocky, eggshell-white head that was too fragile for its own good and fell like a soufflé when the oven door is banged shut. Color was a beautiful solid Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9) with NE-quality clarity. Nose was definitely peachy, laced with a light farmhouse funkiness, just enough to be perceptible, but not enough to overwhelm the delicate peaches. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was both sweet and tart. The fruitiness of the peach, apricot and sweet orange peel accounted for the sweetness and the ginger and black pepper flavor were byproducts of the yeast, giving it a slight tartness. I can see why they suggested peach (or any other) cobbler. Man, we used to make Mixed Fruit Cobbler in the Dutch Oven when I was in the Boy Scouts, using Bisquick and the syrup from the canned fruit. I could eat some of that right now! Warming, it became slightly more tart than sweet, but I was still digging it. Finish was dry, but whether the yeast or the spices were doing it, I remain unsure. It wasn't puckeringly dry, but the sweetness definitely fell away by the finish. Nice.

S: Pepper, peach a kinda Tabasco aroma. Not a very appealing aroma.
T: Peach, pepper so.e Belgian yeast. Much better than the aroma. A slight floral hop.
F: Light body and higher carbonation.
O: Aroma isn't very good but the rest is a nice Belgian beer.
