Served from growler into a New Belgium globe. Poured a massively dark brown with a minimal off-white head. Maintained nice lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, banana, fruit, wood, and sweet alcohol. The flavor was of sweet malt, banana, fruit, wood, dark chocolate, and subtle sweet alcohol. It had a medium feel on the palate with medium-high carbonation. Overall this was a decent brew. The flavors on this one were more like a Belgian Dark Ale if I am honest as compared to a Foreign/Export Stout... Really wish there were a little more dark fruit and roastiness going on in it. Worth trying if you get the chance, but that is about it.

Reviewed on-draught at Fort Collins Brewing's tasting room. Reviewed from notes. Served into a 3 oz sampler glass.
I was perplexed by the name - what the hell is a trappist stout? I can see Belgian monks scratching their heads over this. It seems like a pathetic marketing ploy at best.
A: Pours a 1.5 finger head of nice cream, good thickness, and decent retention. The colour is a solid black.
Sm: Rich chocolate, wonderful subtle roast, caramel, nuts, and toffee. A moderate strength aroma.
T: Deteriorates into caramel and nuts, losing its balance. There's maybe dark fruit in the third act but it gets lost in the mix. Some alcohol comes through. Doesn't live up to the promise of the aroma. Where's the roast?
Mf: Too coarse/dry on the finish. Suits the style but not the flavours.
Dr: Drinkable but boring. It's alright for the style, but needs work.
