355 mL can from the brewery; no packaging date. Served slightly chilled.

Pours a clear pale golden colour, with a substantial amount of floating debris marring its complexion; one finger of loose, frothy white head collapses within ninety seconds. Its remnants include a sudsy collar and filmy cap, with a modest smattering of spotty lace scattered in its wake. Neutral aroma of bready malts and graininess, with shades of grassy, floral hops.

It's a decent pils. Bready, slightly biscuity malt sweetness comes through early on, joined by hints of spicy, herbal hops and grassy, earthy bitterness later on. Spicy, hoppy finish leading into an aftertaste that trends dry. A teensy bit more bitter than expected for the style, but I'm not complaining. Light in body, with assertive carbonation and a crisp feel that encourages quick sips. Very crushable; I could drink several of these in a row with no issues whatsoever.

Final Grade: 3.75, eking out a B+. I've had a handful of these cans over the past year, and I think it's fair to say that Angry Carpenter is a perfectly acceptable pilsner. I mean, I wouldn't go out of my way for more, but Point is a local brewery so I'll continue buying it on a semi-regular basis. A quality malt backbone with firm noble hop support - what's not to like? It's probably this brewery's best lager, at least to date, and worth a try if you're stopping by Point Edward.
