this was easily my least favorite of the three beers i had when i visited this impressive new brewery, but not because its objectively bad, its actually objectively solid, but this is not the kind of saison that elicits much excitement, clean and generic, nothing rustic or farmhouse about it, a cultured seemingly french yeast strain, run warm, and built on clean pale wheat and pils malt, we have seen this beer a million times before, and just because its technically sound thats not enough to make it real appealing, i had way higher hopes. clearish, golden, and shiny with a short but dense white head from the tap, looks almost overly refined, and the nose says belgian golden or single more than it says saison to me, estery, pear and white wine, light white and black pepper spice, we have been down this road before. subtle stone fruit in the flavor, a little coriander and allspice, very dry crackery malt base, of very little interest, and on the fermentation side way too predictable and clean, but nice and dry. the carbonation is excellent, as is the balance, and there is no denying this is well made, but its just so samey and safe as to kind of lose my attention immediately. some may dig it, but i need more from the style to be happy. still, good things happening here, get in there and check them out if you havent yet!
