copied from Untappd with reservations (see my review)--
A full-flavoured pale and hoppy beer. Lots of fruit, especially citrus and some spiciness from the Amarillo hops. A refreshing bitter finish. Ideal summer drinking.

First, my explanation for adding this as an English Pale when it was added to UnTappd as an APA. While EPA's traditionally have all English ingredients and Alchemy has Camarillo hops, EPAs also are allowed to (and should be encouraged) to be inventive. Besides, I had this on the cask and its softness and tame aromatic hops did not remind at all of an APA.
Drawn from the cask at Westfield Malls' East Tap in Stratford, this golden hue had a healthy foam until the last drop. Smells were mostly malt; I detected no aromatic hops. Tastes were very well-balanced with hops only becoming prominent in the finish, yet never even then seeming bitter. Medium-mouthed in the EPA style. Soft.
My first from them, I give huge Overall Hugs to Abbeydale. They are 30 years old. Over half of their output are in casks. They finished their first full year being employee-owned. And also in 2025, they doubled their exports. And they won several awards, including two with their partners at Sheffield BeerWorks. Abbeydale's website has one of the better historical accounts of a micro's progression that I've read. But, read for yourself all the good things employees can do when properly motivated. Cheers !

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
