Esquire Magazine calls our 90 Minute IPA "perhaps the best IPA in America." An imperial IPA best savored from a snifter, 90 Minute has a great malt backbone that stands up to the extreme hopping rate.

90 Minute IPA was the first beer we continuously hopped, allowing for a pungent -- but not crushing -- hop flavor.

From a case bottled 15 Jul 08, purchased within 5 days after bottling, and deliberately allowed to age in the bottle until 7 Feb 09 as part of learning what happens to this beer over time. Poured into a Duvel glass and allowed to warm over the course of the tasting. Glass of cold water on the side to sip from periodically.

Appearance: Transparent dark amber, almost the color of an old copper penny. Thin white head quickly disappears leaving behind ring of foam around the glass with a thin layer of bubbles on most of the surface.

Smell: Dominated by a strong malt presence, caramel, with a nice trace of hops in the aroma. That trace of hops is floral, citrus, and has a hint of pine.

Taste: Rich, sweet, sherry-like flavor with a medium finish and barely a hint of bitterness. But the hop flavors replicate the nose and still play in the background. Not even a hint of the 9% alcohol.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with faint carbonation.

Drinkability: I could drink more than one of these even though it no longer has that hoppy DIPA bitterness that was there when was freshly bottled. The changes over time have created a different beer that I like about as much in its own way as I like it fresh. In some ways it is now a bit more like a Barleywine but clearly different from that style. One of the strengths of this beer is that after the bitterness of the hops has faded with age it is still a wonderful beer. If you like sweet Sherry or English style Barleywines you might consider aging some of this for 6-9 mos. before drinking. While its not exactly like either, it bears some resemblances to both.

12 oz. bottle pours a clear reddish amber with medium sized creamy head that leaves good lacing. Aroma has floral hops, pine resin, orange marmalade, and sweet caramel. This may be the sweetest DIPA I've tried, but the sweetness is balanced. Each sip makes me look forward to the next one to see what else I might notice. Body is medium to full with lively carbonation yet a sticky mouthfeel. A classic which I hadn't revisited in way too long.

From a 6-pack picked up at Harvest Foods in Ronan, MT
12oz bottle poured into a Coin Toss Belgian-style tulip

P clear amber/copper w/ just over 1f-worth of slightly off-white head
N med-bold sweet aromatic sticky floral, resin, and caramel notes
T sweet sticky bold, profile of caramel malt, candied citrus, resin, and maybe a touch of vanilla; dotted w/ zestiness and light bitterness; delicious
Mf full-bodied and satisfying; med to med-high carb; lightly creamy
O an excellent DIPA; has been one of my favorites in the style over the years- tried and true, and hits the spot every time

Can't say much more than what's already been said.
Note that, of the DFH "Minute IPAs," 90--with a 92 rating-- is second only to the Utopia Barrel-Aged 120!
Stovepipe can, stamped July 2026, purchased at Banks in Ocean View Delaware. This baby is fresh.
Pours an outrageously thick, towering, creamy white head the likes of which I've not seen on a beer in a long time.
Lacing is thick, super sticky and coats the entire top half of the glass. Wowza.
Aroma not as powerful as the pour. Just some faint pine, dank dark citrus, and toasty biscuit.
Taste is phenomenal. Sticky, sweet, resinous pine, mixed with orange marmalade; great old school hop bitterness, and the classic 'solid malt backbone.'
Delightful drinkability, as each sip coats the lips, tongue, and mouth with bitter, sticky, resinous goodness. Each sip invites one to pause and savor, and smile. Each sip beckons the next..
The medium body and carbonation makes for such pleasurable drinkability. Did somebody say 9%?
Give yourself 90 minutes, sip slowly, and enjoy this world-class American IPA .

This is an amazing Imperial IPA, which is so smooth - you can't get enough of it. Many Imperials are pushing the limits, ending up being way too thick and difficult to drink. Not this one. If Guinness is the nectar of Gods, this is the mead :)

(review from May 2024) Hopheads rejoice! Very well-balanced, complex fooler of a 9% double ipa with enough heft on the tongue to stand up 4 itself! 90 minutes indeed!

Look: It pours amber and has great clairty. It has an off white head with excellent head retention.

Aroma; It has some pine and herbal aromas up front. There are some floral notes as well.

Taste: It has some stone fruit and citrus with the pine and floral notes. It has a quite spicy mixture with the other elements.

Feel: It has a medium full body with a strong bitter finish. The bitter finish is strong, but not unpleasant.

Overall: Strong flavors and a great look make this a classic west coast IPA.
