SeaQuench Ale is our session sour quencher made with lime peel, black lime and sea salt. It’s a citrusy-tart union of three German styles of beer blissfully brewed into one. We begin by brewing a straightforward Kolsch with lots of wheat and Munich Malt, then we brew a salty Gose with black limes, coriander and our sea salt. We follow it all up with a citrusy-tart Berlinerweiss made with lime juice and lime peel. All three beers are then blended together in the fermentation tank to create this German hybrid.

Never have I seen such an accurate representation of what it tastes like to throw up after a night of drinking. I have never wanter this flavor, and I still don't.

Look – 4
Lighter golden color, exactly what you expect from a session sour. Clean appearance, bright and refreshing in the glass.
Smell – 4
Wow. Sea salt and lime jump right out on the nose. It smells exactly like it should — citrus-forward and vibrant. It doesn’t really smell like a traditional beer; it comes across more like a fruity, refreshing drink.
Taste – 4
You get hit immediately with lemon, lime, and salt. Those flavors lead the way. On the back end, there’s a noticeable sour note, but it’s more subtle compared to the dominant citrus and salt profile. The balance works well for the style.
Feel – 3.5
Lightly carbonated. Not overly smooth, but not harsh either — it sits somewhere in between. Crisp and sessionable.
A very good beer within its style. It works extremely well as a palate reset — especially if you’re drinking IPAs or malt-heavy beers.
It’s refreshing, different, and fits its purpose perfectly.

12oz can best by November 2025
On the pour, 2 fingers of bone white head forms on top of a hazy straw yellow body. Head retention is pretty decent.
Aroma is... interesting... It smells ocean-y. I guess that matches the name but it doesn't smell much like limes or a traditional sour. It smells OK
Flavor follows the aroma, but is less ocean-y. I am getting quite a lot of lime now. Not super salty, but for you that might be good. There is a light zesty bitterness. There is a light saltiness on the way, way back.
Feel is crisp and dry. It's not quite easy drinking though, I guess it's pretty close, but the flavor is a bit heavy.
Overall this isn't my favorite sour, it's a bit bitter for the style, and that ocean-y vibe isn't really my thing.

12 oz. can pours a hazy light golden with small head but no lacing. Not much to smell. Aroma has a bit of wheat, but it is overpowered by the tart lemon flavor and too much salt. Body is light with very lively carbonation. This definitely quenches the thirst, but as a beer, the mixture of a Kolsch, a Gose, and a Berliner Weisse seems odd and contrived, without letting you enjoy the best qualities of any of the three styles.

Appearance: On draft into a pint glass. Yellowish gold like shiny hay, a slight haze, and fizzy. Quarter inch of white foam that went away quickly and left no lacing.
Aroma: Muted. Nothing really distinguishable.
Taste: Lime, salt. Low sourness.
Feel: Carbonation was lower than expected. Thin.
Overall: Not a fan. The narrow flavor profile and lack of tartness killed this one for me. Maybe it would be good for someone who wants to drink beer without the usual malt or hop flavors; or anyone looking for a mild introduction to sours. I definitely expected better from Dogfish.

Love this one with cashews, or Thai/Mexican food. Poured from a 12oz. can, with a BB Date of July 2025. In a Pilsner glass, it looks Lemony-yellow with a brlght white soapy head. Settles to 2 fingers. Nice. Smells like your beer cooler on a DEEP sea trip. Kind of. You get the salty/lime for sure. And it follows on the nose and taste. A bizarre brew(for some) - but this brew is an excellent change up, from your ordinary beer. You might not like it by itself; try it after a handful of cashews or peanuts. Far different & it sold me on this brew. And it definately QUENCHES! Why do a corona/lime… brewed with REAL LIME. Cheers!

Murky, golden color. No head at all. Citrus, spices , some minerals, and fruits in aroma. Sour taste with a hint of salt and notes of lime and spices. Bad looking but a perfectly balanced sour beer.

I hate to be overly critical of a beer, but I could not stand this beer. I had this beer on a trip back East. I think we were at Funland. I went into a store to get a beer and saw a Dogfish Head beer which I hadn't tried. So, purchased it. All the other beers I've had from them were great. This one not so much. Too much salt for one thing and two, too sour. I remember this beer because it was really bad. I remember the really good ones or the really bad ones and this is the latter in my opinion.

Look: Pale hazy straw. Large fluffy white head with good retention.
Smell: A rather unappealing salt smell is present.
Taste: Starts with a good but subtle lime taste that has a hint of light wheaty sweetness to it. However, these gentle, pleasant flavors are quickly overpowered by a SUPER strong and quite frankly nasty salt taste.
Feel: Fine. Medium in the mouth.
Overall: If the hellacious salt taste weren’t so upfront, this would be a wonderful beer. I really wish it had taken a backseat to the delicious lime and wheat flavors I was getting but unfortunately that was not the case. I would not recommend this beer.

This is my overall go-to if I’m not in the mood for something in particular. It’s refreshing and crisp.
