In honor of three decades of Dogfish Head, we’re crafting a Triple Decadence World Wide Stout that celebrates our history with three notable aging woods.

This brew will blend together three threads of barrel-aged World Wide Stouts – World Wide Stout aged in Palo Santo as a celebration of our innovative approach to producing beers; World Wide Stout aged in Let’s Get Lost Whiskey barrels as a nod to our award-winning whiskey and years of distillation; and World Wide Stout aged in Utopias Barrels to salute our friends at Sam Adams and their incredibly intricate and unique Utopias

big chocolate from the get-go. stouty aroma.Old school bourbon barrel effort. Have had more chocolate stouts, more bourbon enjoyable stouts. But price is OK.

The beer pours a moderate brown foamy head that dissipates at a moderate pace. The beer itself is a dark chocolate black (a very dark brown) and has a nice smooth and weighty texture to it.

The smell is very good. The smell starts off with bourbon notes alongside a moderate vanilla and chocolate. The wood notes are mostly absent in the smell. There are some traces, but it isn't very noticeable. The smell also has a light but sharp boozy note in the end.

The taste is good. The main notes are chocolate and wood notes from the Palo Santo that immediately come up front. The whisky and Utopia notes come in during the finish and after the beer has warmed up a little. The wood notes linger way past the finish.

The feel is good. It definitely has a heavy body with a smooth texture and fairly dry finish.

Overall, a pretty good beer that isn't overly decadent but full of flavor and tasty notes. It's definitely worth getting at least once.

12oz bottle. No dating information found.
Black colored body, head to toe. Light tan colored body, from one finger with the pour to a thin cap and higher full ring. No lacing.
Aroma of bourbon barrel influences, with roasted malts, chocolate, exotic wood, espresso coffee with cream, molasses, oak, and vanilla.
Taste is overall sweet, with distinct bourbon barrel influences. Flavors of roasted malts with a hint of char, chocolate, and vanilla. Contribution from exotic wood secretions. Contributing flavors of molasses, nuts, and a dry dark fruit. Creamy espresso bits. Aftertaste lingers but fades considerably, and settles on the bourbon barrel and chocolate.
More than medium mouthfeel. Silky texture. Higher ABV% is expressed as heavy vapors, and eludes any burn or sting. Low bitterness (sweet for the most part). Initial foam head that comes from the pour with supportive carbonation.
Presents well as a blend, and fits well for the style. Worthy 30th Anniversary brew.

Pours pitch black color with a 2 finger thick tan foamy head that faded quickly, leaving minimal lacing (as expected). Smells of dark chocolate, burnt coffee, espresso beans, charred malt, roasted coffee grounds, soy sauce, molasses and faint vanilla. Flavor has everything listed in the smell section, but the chocolate is mellower like milk chocolate yet the coffee aspects are more bitter; there are hints of booze, and the woody/barrel taste comes through with nice char, vanilla, peat moss, rye, piney notes, whiskey and some chocolate covered cherries as it fades off dry. There is no ABV burn, this was lighter feeling than expected and went down smoothly. This was really nice and a brew I’d definitely like to revisit.

hmm.... complex enough to the receiving senses, sure - but i'm not yet convinced that it's locked-in together enough to please my palate. maybe i'll start to acquire a taste after this first sampling...? (high abv can cause a sudden change of heart after while...) ;-)

Very enjoyable and surprisingly lean and restrained. Big bold flavors with dark fruit and dark chocolate notes, some pleasant alcohol presence tightening things up, very little sweetness. There is roast, bitterness, wood as a secondary but clearly noted player; mid body, lingering bitter finish. Not a lot of the utopias aging popping out for me, certainly not in comparison to the utopias aged WWS bottling. Nice to find a single to enjoy on a chilly evening, not sure I’d spring the 40 bucks for a four pack, though.

Good BA imp stout with nice mouthfeel; well balanced notes of woody/malty/roasty/oakey/choco/vanillaish flavors but barely-there bourbony/whiskyish taste? It's an incredibly smooth fooler of a 15%er that drinks like much less but doesn't hold a candle to previous versions of DH WWS. I'll report back on the 2nd bottle when I get to it. Also, it proves there's absolutely nothing special about any Sam Adams Utopias whatsoever, period.

Mostly bubbleless near black beer sits in the glass shortly after pouring. Nose has a hint of licorice cutting through a chocolate cake roasted malt base that has figs strewn through its layers - the Utopias barrel seems in play here. There is a bit of booziness perceived on the nose that has the expected parallel in the taste / feel.

Taste is more cola with a light sarsaparilla tinge more than licorice - which seems like it could be the whiskey barrel coming through. That barrel could be bringing some spice as well,, though that could be the less astringent side of the beer’s ABV. Roasted malt adds a charred bitterness to the edge of the palate. Dark fruit from the nose is pretty hidden beneath the other flavors, pretty much found only if looked for beneath the char.

What a really well balanced stout. Great chocolate, roast, barrel flavor and some heat but everything is dialed in very nicely. One of the best stouts I’ve had in a while.

12oz bottle. Poured out oil black with a small, short-lived light brown head of foam. It left sudsy residue on the glass. It smelled of oak, booze, tobacco, rich chocolate and toffee. Strong boozy taste with lots of oak, vanilla and chocolate.
