a curious winter warmer with some booze burn, malt depth, and unique appeal beyond just the christmas season despite the name, a little amateurish, and there was quite a range of quality here, but its a rad spot and i was stoked to check it out with friends this past weekend, good vibes, lots of creative beers, and this was one of the more exotic. a deep chestnut amber color on a short but lasting just off white head, not hazy but not really bright either, fine carbonation. it has a nose of long boiled malt almost barleywine-like, but then also has subtle clove and anise almost belgian spiciness, followed by some herbal character and quite a lot of alcohol without too much sweetness at the end, a little different, and kind of a style bender, but an appealing beer in small enough doses that i dont have to leave my car way out here. i like the bit of spiciness and the fact the malt doesnt get too dark, i like it having a little late hop bitterness to balance the sweetness, and i think the mellow yeast contribution adds nice depth, it sure is cozy, but it does warm up a little fusel and is all over the place just a bit, but i dont want to be too critical of something fun and distinctive from an operation still getting their feet under them. we had a great time here, and this was certainly one of the more memorable and assertive beers on their menu! check them out if you havent yet!

Small pour at brewery. Dark brown pour, small beige foamy head. Aroma is mildly roasty, woody. Taste adds some hop character and a little bitterness. Very smooth ans easy to drink.
