decent porter here, basic but well enough executed, to me a little thin overall, light to drink, but i like the bitter roast it packs, less dependent on richer middle malts, not loaded with body and sweetness and all of that, this is pretty simple and leans on the dark side, a little yeasty side as well which i think adds needed depth and flatters this, quite subtle overall aside from the late bitterness, i would never choose this over their epic chocolate stout, but its an easier drink, pleasantly low alcohol, and works for winter well enough. nice head on this, three quarters of an inch high from the tap and lighter brown toned on top of a close to black base, mid shine, adequate carbonation. some dark chocolate character to the nose and taste, burnt black malt and unmalted roasted barley, black coffee nuance, an earthy dark leather thing too, some linger, very little sweetness anywhere, and for a second reads a little english. to me it feels a tad thin and the bitterness is this exposed some. i do generally like porter that leans away from the caramel range, but a little richness here wouldnt be the end of the world. a touch amateur and less polished than their best, but a reasonable option in here on the dark side if for some unknown reason the chocolate stout isnt for you, that one absolutely slaps!

Taster at brewery. Dark brown, skin of beige head, streaky lacing. Aroma is roast malts, light sweetness. Taste adds light chocolate, roasty, sweet, bitter. Nice feel throughout.
