Taster at Danelion. Light copper colored pour, ring of head. Light malty aroma, toffee. Taste is malty and sweet, toasty. Sweet and tasty with a slippery feel.

fun beer, love the name, dubbed a 70 shilling ale, seems about right for this, soft and easy drinking, grain driven but with a flattering yeast element too. a little malt color to this but i wouldnt quite put it in the amber range, lighter than that, with a pillowy off white head from the tap and pleasant carbonation the whole way. nose of toasted grain, baked bread, cozy and rustic to me, old worldy with the yeast, almost more english there than anything else, maybe even some european grains in this, very light on the hops but with enough to balance, and its never sweet to my senses despite having some structural richness, a nice place to be for this style, understated in the nose overall, as in fine but not exciting, i think a little better overall in the flavor, but still a mellow and mild drinker with just a bit of nuance taking it somewhere. a little kilned coziness to the grain but short of caramelized or anything, the yeast has a cohesive proofing dough thing, and i get light almost tea-like herbal notes as it warms, simple but well proportioned, smooth and kind of long without being sweet, freshness is there, and it feels hearty and right while still being easy. i think this is about the most approachable beer on their list in the absence of a basic lager or blonde, and should appeal to the craft adjacent crowd pretty well once they are in the door, everyone needs a beer like that and this is more thoughtful than most.
