16oz can
Pours a finger of fizzy white head into my snifter. Retention is decent and the head leaves a healthy film. Lacing is good. Body is a murky gold with brown hues. Looks nice.
Nose has a lovely dose of clove, and a little bread. There is a hint of acidity and maybe a touch of orange. No pepper. Smells great.
Flavor has some clove, faint lemon. It drinks a lot lighter than the nose and it's lighter than I would like for a saison. Ester production could be bigger, but it's still enjoyable and tasty.
Body is very light, certainly feels like 4% abv. Carbonation is quite low, especially for a saison. Bitterness is low. Well attenuated. There is a softness here, wouldn't be surprised if there were oats used. Overall the mouthfeel is different, and it takes some time to appreciate, but I like it and I think it works.
Drinkability is great.
Overall a nice beer with a gentle touch to it.
*Glass was mostly consumed without the yeast at the bottom of the can, once added, the flavor got a little sharp and slightly more acidic. Not terrible but the saison qualities came though better before that*
