some really cool beers in this place, well worth the drive from boise to try them, very creative and well executed across the board. this is a quality amber ale done with a fair bit of real maple syrup, impressive to me. bright lighter red color in the glass, bonze toned with good clarity and shine and a frothing inch of off white head, some loose lace as it drinks down. the nose is sweet but not overly so, and not from the malt at all but from the maple, they avoid that sugar double jeopardy really well. the malt is more kilned and toasted than caramelized or rich, so the maple really pops, earthy and organic and high quality, and the same is true in the flavor. the maple starts early and runs through the finish but is not out of proportion, the grain is plenty robust in this, the ferment is clean, and this to me feels like a perfect autumn session type brew, not too sweet after each sip, relatively complex for a basic red type at its core, and with the maple beautifully incorporated, maybe partially fermented down but not so much so as to be lost to the malt, not at all, the maple still drives this. delicious beer, well carbonated and tidy in the right ways, distinctive and somewhat sort of soft and gentle to me overall. this place was really enjoyable!
