This was a cask only offering, as they put the majority into barrels. It was brewed for barrels, with no initial intent to be released unbarrelled, and I think that shows a bit. I'm not sure if they cask conditioned it, but it was totally flat, which I don't necessarily hate, but it left me wanting a little something despite it having a rich, full-bodied moutfeel. It's on the sweeter side, but with a fairly dry, leathery finish. A more traditional English barleywine for sure, and I'll be intrigued to see how barrels round this out.
